
A teen was arrested after allegedly trying to steal $352 value of things at Walmart.
Kayla Denise La’Tia Upshaw, 18, of Fort Myers, on Monday morning allegedly left the Walmart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza in The Villages with the merchandise in buying luggage, in keeping with an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Workplace.
She had been caught on video surveillance taking the merchandise by way of a self-checkout lane, however failing to pay for the gadgets. After she left the shop, she was questioned by deputies. She claimed her boyfriend had the Walmart receipt, however mentioned he was “someplace within the space.” Upshaw tried to offer deputies a false title and resisted their efforts to take her into custody.
She was arrested on expenses of theft, offering a false title to a regulation enforcement officer, resisting arrest and theft.
She was was booked on the Sumter County Detention Middle on $2,500 bond.
