An arraignment has been set for a Villager arrested in an altercation sparked by golf cart highway rage.

Sheldon Scott Engstrom, 59, who lives within the Village of Hammock at Fenney, is ready for arraignment on Aug. 2 in Sumter County Court docket on prices of battery and resisting arrest. He stays free on $1,000 bond.

Engstrom was touring in his golf cart at about 7:30 p.m. June 19 on the golf cart path close to the Okahumpka Recreation Middle when he apparently bought impatient with the road of golf carts in entrance of him, in line with an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Division. Engstrom managed to go the opposite golf carts, however then stopped at a cease signal and tried to wave among the golf carts previous him. A girl in a golf cart indicated she didn’t wish to go round him and the Washington native “began yelling and screaming at her,” the report stated.

Engstrom bought out of his golf cart and started strolling “aggressively” towards a person’s golf cart. The person stated Engstrom started “chest bumping” him and the person punched Engstrom in self protection. Engstrom started yelling at one other girl and threatened to hit her. The person instructed Engstrom to “simply depart,” and Engstrom responded by “aggressively bumping him within the chest,” prompting the person to once more punch Engstrom.  The report stated Engstrom began to name 911 and threatened the opposite man with arrest. Engstrom fled the scene in his golf cart.

A police officer went to Engstrom’s residence at 3813 Zenkto St. in reference to the 911 name, however had already been supplied with details about the altercation that had taken place on the golf cart path, together with an outline of Engstrom. An officer arrived on the residence and requested Engstrom to step exterior, however he refused and slammed the door.
