
An 84-year-old arrested after allegedly utilizing a cane to assault a fellow at an assisted dwelling facility received’t be prosecuted within the case.
The prosecutor’s workplace introduced earlier this month that no data shall be filed with regard to a felony cost of battery on an individual 65 years of age or older which had been confronted by Paul Miner Wenz of Sumter Senior Dwelling on County Highway 466A in The Villages. Wenz had been within the cafeteria for breakfast on June 16 when an 85-year-old man approached Wenz and “requested him how he was doing,” in response to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Workplace. Wenz informed the person he was “drained” of his “BS,” and allegedly used different profanity. He used his strolling cane to strike the 85-year-old, the report stated.
Wenz was later interviewed by deputies and he admitted he “tapped” the opposite man. Wenz spent one evening on the county jail however was later launched on his personal recognizance. He was allowed to return to Sumter Senior Dwelling, however a choose ordered him to behave.
